FNAF 2: Five Nights of Survival Horror with New Animatronics
FNAF 2, the sequel to Five Nights at Freddy's, is a first-person survival horror game. You play as a new security guard working the night shift at a refurbished family pizzeria. Your goal is simple: survive five nights from 12 AM to 6 AM. However, the restaurant is inhabited by a cast of malfunctioning, hostile animatronics that view you as an endoskeleton without its costume. To survive, you must master FNAF 2's limited tools while managing your power and sanity. The core appeal of FNAF 2 is its intense, nerve-wracking gameplay that relies on strategy, quick reflexes, and audio cues rather than direct combat.

Monitoring the Building with the Security Camera System
Players use a tablet to access a network of security cameras placed in various rooms and hallways. The primary action is to constantly flip through the camera feeds to track the movements of the animatronic characters. This is crucial for anticipating threats and knowing when to deploy your tools. However, using the camera drains limited power and leaves you vulnerable in your immediate vicinity. The progression involves learning each animatronic's patrol routes and recognizing the specific audio cues that signal their approach, which is vital for mastering the later, more difficult nights in FNAF 2.

Warding Off Threats with the Freddy Fazbear Mask
A critical new tool in FNAF 2 is the Freddy Fazbear head mask. When an animatronic enters your office, you must immediately put on the mask. This action fools most animatronics into believing you are one of them, causing them to leave after a short time. Players must perform this action swiftly, often switching from the camera view to the mask in a split second. The challenge lies in correctly identifying which animatronic is in your office, as some characters are not fooled by the mask. This mechanic adds a layer of panic and precision to the defensive strategy of FNAF 2.

Managing Limited Power and Environmental Controls
Unlike the first game, the office in FNAF 2 has a permanent emergency power source, but other tools are power-dependent. The two main drains are the security camera system and a hallway light. Players must learn to use these tools sparingly to avoid a complete power outage. A unique environmental control is the music box, found on the Prize Corner camera. This music box must be wound up regularly by viewing its camera feed. If it is neglected for too long, a specific character will become active and create an unwinnable scenario, adding a persistent, time-sensitive task to the player's duties in FNAF 2.
Encountering an Expanded and More Aggressive Cast
The cast of antagonists in FNAF 2 is larger and more diverse than in the original. It includes withered versions of the original characters and all-new toys like Toy Bonnie and Mangle. Each animatronic has distinct behaviors and attack patterns. For instance, some are attracted to noise, while others appear randomly. Players must learn these behaviors through repeated play. The reward loop is the satisfaction of successfully predicting and countering a specific animatronic's pattern, allowing you to progress to a later, more challenging night. This variety is a key factor in the replay value of FNAF 2.
Surviving the 20/20/20/20 Mode Challenge
After surviving the five main nights, FNAF 2 offers additional challenges, including a 6th Night and a Custom Night. In Custom Night, players can manually set the AI difficulty for each animatronic from 0 to 20. The ultimate test is the 20/20/20/20 mode, where the four primary threats are set to their maximum aggression. Beating this mode requires flawless execution of all FNAF 2's mechanics under extreme pressure. This endgame content provides a steep skill ceiling for dedicated players and serves as the ultimate mastery test for the systems in FNAF 2.
