The Unveiling of Forza Horizon 6 Could Happen Sooner Than Anticipated

Forza Horizon 5 hit the market almost four years back, and enthusiasts have been on the lookout for updates about its follow-up. A recent Reddit discussion implied that the next installment could be set in Japan, all because a car manufacturer mentioned that the Forza team was scanning a Kei truck. It’s wise to treat this with caution, though; it hasn’t been verified, and it might simply mean the game will feature Japanese vehicles (or perhaps a Truck-kun crossover).

That being said, there’s talk suggesting that the reveal of Forza Horizon 6 will take place at the Tokyo Game Show. This annual event typically occurs toward the end of September, and this year’s TGS is poised to be the largest yet. What’s more, Xbox has confirmed its attendance at the show and plans to share news there.

Let’s add some historical perspective. As a brand, Xbox has never fared well in Japan, especially when compared to Nintendo and Sony. It has recently found some success with the Series S|X and expanded partnerships with Japanese game studios, but the platform still doesn’t measure up to its rivals in terms of performance.

Phil Spencer has been leading efforts to gain more traction in the Japanese market. While the scanning of a Kei truck isn’t concrete evidence that Forza Horizon 6 will be set in Japan, it’s a clue — and unveiling the next Horizon game at the Tokyo Game Show would make sense if that is indeed the case.

Developer Playground Games has a strong history of supporting their games post-launch, rolling out regular content updates long after release. However, updates for Forza Horizon 5 have slowed down noticeably lately. Many fans interpret this as a sign that the studio is hard at work on the next entry and gearing up to announce it.

Japan has been a sought-after location for the franchise from the start, and it’s easy to see why. The country has a rich history in car culture and a thriving underground racing scene (as depicted in “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” and anime such as “Initial D”). For now, these are just rumors, and these assumptions are purely speculative. We’ll have to wait until next month’s show to get the real scoop.
